Marble Polishing
Honed, semi-polished, or high-gloss finishes for floors, counters, stairs, and vanities.
Travertine restoration in Montreal, Brossard and the South Shore for pitted, dull or stained floors, showers and stone surfaces. Free estimate.
Travertine is beautiful because it has movement, warmth and natural texture. It also needs a different restoration process than marble. The open pores, filled pits and softer structure can collect dirt, lose filler, turn dull in traffic lanes or react badly to the wrong cleaner.
My name is Gen Schiavone, founder of Techni-Marbre. I restore travertine floors, showers, counters and feature areas across Brossard, the South Shore, Montreal and Laval. Before recommending polishing, sealing or repair, I identify the stone, inspect the filler, check moisture exposure and explain what level of finish the travertine can realistically hold.
Gen can inspect the fill, moisture exposure and wear pattern before recommending travertine cleaning, honing, sealing or repair.

Grinding, repair, polishing, and sealing for worn, etched, or stained marble surfaces.
Chips, cracks, etching, stains, and countertop edges repaired on site with matched resin.
Travertine, terrazzo, limestone, slate, and adjacent stone restored with the right process.
Cleaning, honing, sealing, fill inspection, and repair for travertine floors, showers, and details.
Mechanical terrazzo restoration for dull, scratched, cloudy, or coated-over surfaces.
Honing, cleaning, light repair, and sealing for dull, scratched, or stained limestone surfaces.
Deep cleaning, coating removal, sealing, and colour enhancement for textured slate.
Travertine does not always need to be replaced when it looks tired. Many floors and showers can be brought back with cleaning, pit filling, honing and sealing. Restoration is often the better option when the surface is structurally sound but the finish has worn down.
Common travertine problems I inspect include open holes, loose filler, dirty grout lines, dull walking lanes, etching from cleaners, water marks in showers, uneven shine, scratched tiles and old sealer that has turned cloudy or sticky.
If the stone has deep movement cracks, loose tiles or waterproofing issues behind a shower wall, I explain those limits before work starts. The goal is to restore what the stone can safely give, not promise a finish that will fail again.
1. Surface assessment. I inspect the travertine, filler, grout, stains, previous coatings and traffic pattern. This determines whether the stone needs deep cleaning, honing, repair, sealer removal or a combination.
2. Cleaning and preparation. Dirt, soap residue, old maintenance product and loose filler are removed so the surface can be repaired properly.
3. Pit and chip repair. Open holes and missing filler are filled with colour-matched material where appropriate. The goal is a repair that blends into the floor instead of looking like plastic dots.
4. Honing and refinishing. Progressive diamond abrasives remove surface dullness, light scratches and uneven sheen. Travertine is usually best as a honed or satin finish rather than a mirror finish.
5. Sealing and care guidance. After restoration, I apply the appropriate sealer and explain how to maintain the surface without harsh products that can damage the finish again.
In homes, I often restore travertine kitchen floors, entrances, bathrooms, showers, fireplace surrounds and feature walls. In commercial or multi-unit buildings, travertine can appear in lobbies, corridors, reception areas and washrooms.
Each area needs a different approach. A shower usually needs attention to soap residue, water marks and sealer choice. A busy floor needs a finish that can handle traffic. A fireplace or wall may need cleaning and colour enhancement more than heavy honing.
I service Brossard, the South Shore, Saint-Lambert, Boucherville, Longueuil, La Prairie, Montreal, Westmount, Outremont, Laval and nearby areas. For travertine projects outside those areas, send photos and I can confirm whether an on-site estimate makes sense.
Travertine is part of the broader natural stone restoration system. If your project includes multiple surfaces, I can also assess marble polishing, marble restoration, marble repair, limestone, terrazzo and slate. For mixed stone homes or commercial spaces, this helps keep the finish and maintenance plan consistent.
Yes, many open pits and missing filler areas can be repaired. The result depends on pit depth, stone condition and colour matching, but the surface can usually be made cleaner and easier to maintain.
Not always. Travertine often looks best with a honed, satin or soft sheen finish. A very high gloss can emphasize pores and may not suit every floor.
Yes. I can clean, hone, repair and seal travertine showers when the stone is sound. If there are waterproofing or structural issues, I identify those limits first.
Most residential floors take one to three days depending on area, repair needs, drying time and sealer choice.
Yes. Brossard and the South Shore are priority service areas, along with Montreal, Laval and nearby communities.
Send photos of the travertine, the approximate area and your location. I can then confirm the next step and schedule an on-site inspection if the project is a fit.
I offer a free on-site estimate and usually respond within 24 hours.
